The program is a mixture of wildlife, fun, adventure and learning. It provides an opportunity to the participants to get involved in various activities and visit different locations of Kumaon to see and experience the outdoors in real life.

 

Sattal:


Sattal, a place with seven lakes, is located near Nainital. It is situated at an altitude of 1370 mts. in the lower Himalayas near Bhimtal. Consisting of pine and oak forests, Sattal has plenty of birding opportunities. Sixty kilometer from Nainital, the camp is situated at the height of 7500 ft. from sea level, away from the road surrounded by mountains, meadows, streams, hidden waterfalls, wildlife and dense forest of pyramided shaped silver fir. This special and the biggest fir forest is owned by village panchayat Raata and the camp is being run by the local, professionally qualified youth in association with the village panchayat with the aim of conservation of forest, wildlife and promotion of sustainable eco-tourism in the Himalayan region. The place is also known for its immense beauty which lies in lush green mountains, fruit orchards, terraced field and vast range of Kumaon, Garhwal and Nepal Himalayas.

Pangot:

Pangot is located about 13 kilometers from Nainital, which is a popular hill station. The drive to here passes through the forested area of Cheena Peak Range via Snow View Point and Kilbury, which are birding spots. The main attraction of Pangot are its birds; around 580 bird species have been recorded in this area. One can see a variety of Himalayan species along the way such as lammergeier, Himalayan griffon, blue-winged minla, spotted & slaty-backed forktail, rufous-bellied woodpecker, rufous-bellied niltava, khalij pheasant, variety of thrushes, etc. Almost 150 bird species have been recorded at Pangot and the surrounding areas. The numerous perennial & seasonal creeks are home to a variety of flora and fauna including leopards, yellow-throated Himalayan martens, ghorals, barking deer and sambar.

 

Ghatgarh:

Ghatgarh is a village on Kaladhungi-Nainital highway at an altitude of 1020 meter from MSL and 255 kms away from Delhi. There are two nearby rail-heads to approach to Ghatgarh. Our camp is situated on a beautiful tranquil hilltop surrounded by lush green forest and green rolling hills which are home to hundreds of species of Himalayan birds. Mesmerising view of sunset and tweeting of birds makes one feel enchanted. A number of treks that wind their way through the forest and please your eyes with astounding landscapes to thrilling wildlife sightings.

 

Kyari, Corbett:

In the lap of Himalayan foothills, surrounded by reserve forest and civilized by Khichri River, Kyari is a charming village perched in the periphery of Jim Corbett national park. Being the great habitat for birds and elephants, Kyari has come up as the hot destination for bird watchers and wild lifers. Moreover; the abundance of natural resources around, it provides an opportunity for life time adventure in the Corbett region.

 

Target Birds: Cheer Pheasant, Koklass Pheasant, Kalij Pheasant, Hill Partridge, Rufous-throated Partridge, Bearded Vulture, White-rumped Vulture, Himalayan Vulture, Himalayan Buzzard, Black Eagle, Grey-winged Blackbird, Long-billed Thrush, White-crested Laughingthrush, Striated Laughingthrush, Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush, Rusty-cheeked Scimitar Babbler, White-browed Scimitar Babbler, Brown Dipper, Wallcreeper, Ibisbill, Finn’s Weaver, Chestnut-capped Babbler, Striated Babbler, Crested Kingfisher, Long-tailed Broadbill, Common Green Magpie, Rufous-gorgeted Flycatcher, Slaty Blue Flycatcher, Mountain Bulbul, Black-throated Sunbird, Green-tailed Sunbird, Crimson Sunbird, Brown Fish Owl, Collared Owlet, Asian Barred Owlet, Jungle Owlet, Warbler and Tits etc.

 

 

Day 1: 4/11/17:
Delhi-Kathgodam

Board train to Kathgodam.

 

Day 2: 5/11/17:
Kathgodam-Sattal

Early morning pick up from Kathgodam Railway Station (arrival from Delhi by Ranikhet Express at 05:05 hrs) and transfer to hotel at Sattal. Check in (if rooms are available early morning otherwise rooms will be allotted after 11:00 hrs), freshen up and birding at Sattal Studio area. Back to hotel for lunch. Afternoon birding around Studio Point. Night stay on twin sharing basis.

 

Day 3: 6/11/17:
Sattal-Ghatgarh

Morning birding around Chaanfi area, departure for Ghatgarh after lunch and on way birding at Hanuman Garhi and Saritatal bypass area. Arrival at Ghatgarh during evening and night stay at Camp Milieu- A Birding Paradise

 

Day 4: 7/11/17:
Ghatgarh-Pangot

Departure for whole day birding at Pangot with packed breakfast. Morning birding on Kunjakharak road and afternoon birding at Himalayan Botanical Garden. Back to Camp Milieu during evening and night stay.

 

Day 5: 8/11/17:
Ghatgarh

Morning birding at Bajoon trail with packed breakfast, afternoon birding at Mangoli and Nalni trails. Night stay at Camp Milieu.

 

Day 6: 9/11/17:
Ghatgarh

Morning birding on Ranikota trail with packed breakfast, lunch at camp and afternoon birding at Camp.

 

Day 7: 10/11/17:
Ghatgarh

Whole day birding at Baur Reservoir for waders, ducks and some bird of terai belt like Finn’s Weaver, Chestnut-capped Babbler, Black-breasted Weaver, Striated Babbler, Yellow-bellied Prinia etc.

 

Day 8: 11/11/17:
Ghatgarh-Corbett

Check out from camp early morning and departure for birding at Corbett landscape. Whole day birding at Corbett landscape. Special targets will be Common Green Magpie, White-crested Laughingthrush, Wallcreeper, Ibisbill, Great Slaty Woodpecker etc. Drop to Kyari.

 

Day 9: 12/11/17:
Corbett

Half day birding at Kyari. Drop to Ramnagar Station. Reach Delhi.
